About him
Not really your typical sort of chap..
My friends would say that I'm intelligent, articulate, empathetic, kind, funny, great company and occasionally outrageous. However, they would only say this if held at gunpoint, so best pay no attention to them.
So, moving on to firmer ground, I've been a keen traveller for many years (70+ countries so far), and I also enjoy walking, reading, bridge, chess, theatre, cinema and current affairs. Plus I get a bonus point for being a reasonably good cook.
I'm fully retired from a professional background in asset management (launched a FTSE company), urban regeneration (launched a charity), and strategic planning (found out how to turn my computer on). What tends to make me a bit out of the ordinary (which sounds better than "odd" or "strange", don't you think?) is that I've also been immersed for thirty years in emotional intelligence work as an organiser, trainer and participant, and this continues to influence my actions and the way I think every single day. Beyond the professional career I've also managed a holistic holiday centre on a Greek island, helped arrange and present personal development seminars in the UK, Russia and Bulgaria, and been a trainer for suicide helpline volunteers.
I’m socially and politically liberal, and I believe that a similar philosophical outlook is valuable in a relationship.
I can be serious and thoughtful, but I'm mostly very light-hearted, very often silly, and always searching out the funny side of life. I never take myself too seriously. No pretence, no bull, no bling; self-assured but never arrogant or flashy.
