About her
Life is always better knowing there’s someone special out there who feels like home — while still happily giving each other space to be ourselves. I’m very much a glass-half-full sort of person who doesn’t fret the small stuff and tends to approach life with an easy smile.
I grew up in an old army family and was fortunate to spend much of my childhood living around the world. I’m well educated. My career took me from North America to the UK, with business trips across Europe and the occasional venture further afield. I’ve also managed a respectable tour of England along the way — Living in London, Gloucestershire, Hampshire, Wiltshire (near Shaftesbury in Dorset) and now North Yorkshire. These days I divide my time between Yorkshire and London, with the odd European work trip ensuring my passport remains reassuringly dog-eared.
I’m happiest in the countryside - likely to be found walking my much-loved Springer spaniel across the Dales, ideally ending somewhere with a good fire and a relaxed civilised pub lunch.
I also enjoy the theatre, history, opera, and exploring interesting corners of the world, with the occasional European city escape for balance. I’ve always enjoyed meeting people from different professional worlds and hearing a little about their world. Anglo-American by background, curious by nature.
I love to travel - usually somewhere with a bit of character or adventure rather than the “All inclusive” variety. A couple of favourites include a riding safari in Africa - with a rather lovely lodge to return to - and a catamaran sailing holiday island hopping around the British Virgin Islands.
I rode horses from the age of nine until 2022, and while I’ve stepped away from it, I do miss having an active sport in my life. I’d love to return to skiing more regularly - I’m an intermediate, slightly out of practice and keen to improve, and would be very happy to have a cheerful and patient ski companion.

I’m drawn to men who enjoy good conversation, are curious about the world, are articulate and have that natural social ease that makes for very good company.
A proper chap: kind, capable, well-spoken, well educated, well-mannered, with a good sense of humour, and a twinkle in his eye. Someone who has made a success of his chosen path — whatever the field — and who still enjoys learning, travelling and discovering new places.
Ideally, he appreciates both countryside and city culture: long walks with dogs, point 2 points, theatre evenings, travelling to historical corners of the world, and with some regularity - ski trips. Extra fun would be the odd horse riding holiday, but certainly not essential. Someone who every so often enjoys field sports e.g., shooting would fit very easily into my life and circle of friends.
Chemistry matters — that lovely sort where good conversation meanders for hours yet somehow feels like minutes.

I admire a man who is decisive, knows what he wants and isn’t afraid to go after it.
If he happens to have children, I would be very happy if they simply enjoyed seeing their father smiling again.
